The population dynamics and the migration behaviour of potential insect vectors are surveyed in commercial orchards and on alternative host plants. The different transmission parameters are evaluated in transmission trials under controlled conditions. The infectivity of the individuals is determined using quantitative PCR. Recent studies of AlPlanta-IPR demonstrated that a specific psyllid species, Cacopsylla picta (Fig. 2), is the main vector for AP phytoplasma in Germany.
